Forder House

This was probably built at the end of the eighteenth century. In the 19th century this was the home of the Bragg family who were solicitors, and related by marriage to the Ponsfords of Drewsteignton.

Pitt House

A substantial house probably built about 1700 but remodelled and enlarged about 100 years later. The first house may have faced away from the road. We don’t know much about the owners until the late 19th century when John Hill, a gentleman from Exeter who married into the White family, bought it; it was subsequently bought by his nephew Thomas Bowring, who also owned the ground below the rear of the house where he first had a duck and poultry farm, and later built the Kinsmansdale houses.
