Historical Gazetteer

There are many places within Moreton: workshops, barns, farms, inns, shops, churches and chapels and, above all, houses. Few buildings today remain unchanged from the sixteenth century, and still fewer from the fifteenth, but the landscape of the parish is still medieval. Many of the walls which enclose the fields were built in the thirteenth century. Other aspects of the parish are much more modern: larger entrances to allow coaches to enter the grounds of larger inns in the late eighteenth century; the railway station in the late nineteenth century, and garages for cars in the twentieth.
