1 THE SQUARE. Listed by English Heritage (ID no. 85107) as ‘House with shop premises. Circa early C17, remodelled and extended in mid C19… As well as its early C17 fabric the building has a largely unaltered mid C19 exterior which makes a valuable contribution to this prominent central situation in Moretonhampstead.’ At the time of listing it was known as ‘Piggott, the Butcher’.

3 THE SQUARE. Listed as ‘House with shop premises. C18 or early C19 with late C19 shop front.’ In use (2011) as a secondhand bookshop and as the parish council office.

BUTTER MARKET. It was positioned at the entrance to Back Lane but was open to traffic at ground level. It was demolished in the 1920s and the war memorial is on part of the site.
