JP (Crockernwell, Teignbridge), churchwarden (Moreton), D.C.C., etc. Family of Dutch origin (arrived 1690). Added Stevens (his mother?s name) in 1937. Member DA 1885, council member, paper on Moreton Rectors in 1896. Died aged 80. [John Newcombe Stevens bought Hayne in 1835 -relation ??]
